Friends and family close to me are aware that my entire family is down with one of the worst cases of flu we have ever ever experienced.
It all started when Riya, my younger 10 year old daughter, returned home from school two weeks ago feeling unwell. She had brought back a note from her school nurse informing that there has been a case of strep throat infection in her class. Riya complained of a scratchy throat. From then on, our family's health went downhill.
We had to go for our holiday in Orlando, Florida as we couldn't cancel our flight and hotel at the last min. The closed air conditioned room and Riya's insistence to swim in the inviting pool made it all worse. She threw up many times, refused to eat anything because of the fear of throwing up and became quite delusional. We immediately brought her to see a doc when we returned to Bluebell on Sat 27 Dec.
Subsequently, Anand and my older daughter succumbed to the flu. This time, nothing seemed to kill the infection. I was not feeling well either but I had no choice but to soldier on.
So, here we are still unwell, having gone thru New Year's Eve and the first day of the New Year huddled up under a blanket with myriad of medicines next to us.
What a bummer start to 2015!!
Continuing on the topic of flu, I have blogged about the many ways to avoid a flu or a cold under ' Health Tip Of the Day'
My home is
usually in a mess and has dust settled on almost everything. But I believe laughter and love will win the day. In 20 years, my girls won't remember how messy the house was but will remember the time we spent together and the love they felt...
