Bluebell, PA experiences very extreme temperatures. It is -3 deg C ( 27 deg F) outside right now (8am today) but the wind blowing at 10 kph makes it feel like -7!
I hv come from sunny Singapore in SouthEast Asia with temperatures at late 20s ( 80 F) and early 30s deg C. It is humid and you start perspiring like crazy and the stickiness hits you the moment you land at the airport. But I'll trade that climate anytime to what I am experiencing here.
It is cold 7 months of the year in the Eastern side of America and the only respite of warm weather lasts from May - Sep. It's bitter painful cold now. It's not nice cold. My face hurt when I walked out to drop Riya to the bus stop just for a few mins. My ears and nose froze. I rushed back immediately.
Did I mention I slipped and fell early yesterday morning on Black Ice ( frozen icy roads and walkways) while dropping Ranya to the bus stop? My hip hurts and I can't help wondering what more is in store in this place with this crazy weather??!! I can't believe people actually make this place their home. Anand says if you don't know there is a better place elsewhere, you'll just resign to where you are. And for some it is where they grew up, their home. Nothing else counts. True.
I feel for all the animals out in the cold who have no warm houses to cuddle up in. Squirrels and birds which use to frequent our backyard have disappeared. Nature intended for them to find their own ways to keep warm but still you can't not feel for them and pray they last thru this bitter winter.
My home is
usually in a mess and has dust settled on almost everything. But I believe laughter and love will win the day. In 20 years, my girls won't remember how messy the house was but will remember the time we spent together and the love they felt...
