Part 3 of Edible good-for-us oils.
Walnut Oil is made from the nuts that are dried and then cold-pressed. All nut oils have a limited shelf life 6-12 months.
It's considered the new fish oil because it is rich in omega 3 fatty acids. It serves as the building block for the healthy fats that help regulate your immune and nervous systems. Studies also show that walnut oil may also keep your stress levels and blood pressure in check thus protecting your heart.
Don't use this valuable oil in cooking as that will eliminate its health properties. Use it cold. Drizzle over pasta, salads or steamed veggies. Just like sesame oil, store walnut oil in the fridge. It can go rancid fast!
